We are looking for someone who is detail oriented with a passion for precision! It's a great opportunity for someone who is familiar with document management within a detailed quality management system.

This role manages our incoming and outgoing project documentation, making sure that all critical information is tracked, stored, and shared accurately and efficiently. Known across the globe at our Birkenhead facility, on the banks of the River Mersey, we expand across 130 acres which includes four dry docks, a large modular construction hall and extensive covered workshops. We have played a strategic role in UK shipbuilding for the past 200 years, repairing, maintaining and building ships and other vessels. Our quality team forms a vital part of our mission to deliver the highest quality of engineering projects to our clients across the commercial marine, major fabrication and defence sectors.

And what will you do?

  • You will support the team to ensure that project specific registers are compiled and maintained throughout the project lifecycle including drawings, manuals, comments, and class appraisals.
  • You will record all incoming and outgoing project documents via transmittal, with tracking and version control.
  • With Shared Data, you will oversee the management of the client's shared data including upload and download of all relevant project information to ensure secure access and easy retrieval.
  • You will prepare project drawings and packs in both hard and soft copy, as well as other duties like filing and document organisation.
  • Prior to client inspections, you will compile and forward evidence packs to clients.
  • You will review documentation status against project status as well as notifications of inspections before they are submitted to clients.
  • Reviewing internal inspection requests, you will check for accuracy.
  • Reports generated during the manufacturing process will be collated by you to deadlines and you will check that they are legible and retained.

  • Experience working with document control systems in the construction or engineering sector which has given you a good understanding of management storage and retrieval of engineering documentation.
  • The ability to pick up industry-specific software and data management tools.
  • Strong organisational skills while paying close attention to detail.
  • A passion for maintaining quality standards.
  • Exposure to root cause analysis would be great along with familiarity with quality management systems.
