Our client, one of the major Oil & Gas Operators, is currently seeking a Senior Drilling Supervisor to join the Wells team on long-term rolling contracts.

ROLE

The post holder is responsible for supervising the Company’s drilling, completion and rig construction/maintenance activities and ensures compliance with UK Oil & Gas Regulations and Company rules, guidelines and manuals. The post holder is responsible for liaising with other interfaces (production, construction) and conducting such activities in a challenging SIMOPS environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure all operations are carried out at the rig site safely, following company, drilling contractor and legislative safety standards expected in the UK North Sea.
  • Participate in regular company safety audits and ensure deviations from standards/findings are actioned.
  • Ensure safety standards are maintained at all times.
  • Supervise and execute operations at the rig site as per the drilling/completion programs, ensuring any deviation is communicated to onshore with management of change implemented when required.
  • Manage drilling contractor and 3rd party service company activities to maximise operational efficiency.
  • Effectively communicate planned operational activities and priorities to drilling contractor and 3rd party service company personnel on a daily basis.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders (Production platform/vessels operating in 500m zone) at rig site to ensure SIMOPS activities are managed as efficiently as possible.
  • Lead logistics team to ensure all required equipment and personnel are on location in advance of deployment.
  • Analyse evolving situations at the rig site and contribute to problem solving and implementation of solutions.
  • Monitor operational parameters and identify deteriorating situations. Take action when required to mitigate a deteriorating situation.
  • Perform roles required of position during emergency response situations.
  • Contribute to continual drilling and wells improvement process, recording lessons learned and highlight/implement safety and operational improvement opportunities.
  • Lead & direct the Night Drilling & Completion Supervisor and Assistant Drilling & Completion Supervisor.
  • Manage other operational support personnel such as Well Intervention Supervisor, Safety Advisors, completion supervisors.

Daily

  • Record and report daily operational activities via company reporting software/system, generate daily drilling report (DDR) and distribute to onshore team.
  • Review 3rd party reports at the rig site and confirm the validity of content.
  • Maintain planning “lookahead”.
  • Deliver daily instructions to drilling contractor and service companies.
  • Track and report daily and cumulative costs associated to the ongoing well activity.
  • Ensure well files are filed and maintained.
  • Ensure well operations progress in compliance with the program and well examiner critical element list.
  • Lead operational planning meetings with drilling contractor and 3rd party service company personnel.

When required

  • Lead/attend offshore pre-spud meetings.
  • Attend onshore DWOP/CWOP/AWOPs when possible.
  • Attend/contribute to weekly safety meetings.
  • Assist in the review and updating of Operational Procedures, Drilling and Well Intervention programs.
  • Ensure implementation of safeguards/specific procedures as per Risk Assessments, HAZID/HAZOP’s recommendations.
  • Provide assistance to onshore to identify areas for improvement (operation, equipment, procedures, organization, competency, training).
  • Assist in the preparation of derogations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Considerable experience or Degree.
  • Demonstrated ability through experience and proven achievements in Drilling, completion and work-over operations with seasoned professional experience in oil industry drilling.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
  • IWCF Level 4 Well Control.
  • Valid Basic Offshore Survival Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) or Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET).
  • Valid offshore medical.
  • Experience in HPHT well operations and MPD (preferably).
  • Ability to use Drilling Engineering and reporting software (Rig Toolbox, BHA Management, Wellview, T-Desk basic knowledge).
