Our client, an independent energy company focused on the acquisition, exploration, development and production of oil and natural gas assets, is currently seeking a Project Planner / Scheduler to join their Aberdeen team on a 12-month contract. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement.
ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Project Planner / Scheduler to support the planning, scheduling and performance monitoring of the Field Development project in Cote d’Ivoire and potentially projects and operational activities across its international asset portfolio. The successful candidate will work closely with project controls leads, engineering teams, drilling and wells personnel, operations teams, contractors and suppliers in Aberdeen and other geographical locations to develop, maintain and analyse integrated project schedules. The role will provide critical visibility of project performance, progress, resource requirements and key delivery risks. This position will play an important role in supporting the technical, drilling, subsea and topside facilities functions. Initial work involves the planning and project control of the greenfield development involving activities such as concept selection, pre-FEED, FEED, QA-QC sessions, contractor progress, field development planning.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- Establish integrated schedules covering subsurface, engineering, subsea/topside project, QA/QC gates, partner meetings, definitive agreements etc.
- Support all Field Development planning activities for drilling campaigns, engineering work.
- Produce schedule forecasts, critical path analysis and progress reporting.
- Monitor project performance against approved baselines and identify schedule variance.
- Facilitate planning workshops and schedule review meetings with project teams and contractors.
- Assess schedule risks and develop mitigation and recovery plans.
- Track key project milestones and deliverables.
- Coordinate interfaces between engineering, operations, drilling, procurement and external contractors.
- Develop resource-loaded schedules and support manpower forecasting.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for project stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Ensure planning and scheduling processes align with company governance and project controls procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
Required Experience
- Proven experience in a Project Planner or Project Scheduler role within the oil and gas industry.
- Experience supporting offshore projects, drilling campaigns, field developments or production operations.
- Strong understanding of project controls principles and scheduling methodologies.
- Experience developing and maintaining complex integrated schedules.
- Familiarity with EPC, EPCM and operator project environments.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and international stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience with West African offshore operations.
- Exposure to drilling and wells activities.
- Experience supporting FPSO, subsea or offshore production projects.
- Knowledge of shutdowns, maintenance campaigns or brownfield modifications.
- Understanding of risk analysis and schedule assurance processes.
Qualifications
- Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or related discipline.
- Primavera P6 proficiency preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Project and Excel skills essential.
- Project management qualifications (APM, PMI or equivalent) desirable.
