The Offshore Safety Coach (Wells) will work in a well decommissioning project team assigned to a major field in North Sea to support implementation of safety and environmental management system processes by coaching and developing crews, strengthening behavioural safety and promoting hazard awareness. The role would also be suited to Offshore HSE Advisor with considerable coaching experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a behavioural safety coach to well decommissioning personnel, facilitating improved hazard recognition, barrier awareness, and safe decision-making.
  • Support personnel in understanding well MAH (Major Accident Hazard) controls, helping them connect daily tasks to well integrity and process safety expectations.
  • Facilitate coaching discussions around wellsite operations, barrier management, SIMOPS, and pressure control.
  • Guide personnel through post-incident learning sessions, focusing on capturing lessons and preventing recurrence.
  • Participate in incident investigations in a facilitation capacity, enabling open, honest discussions to provide learning-focused outcomes.
  • Encourage personnel to bring forward observations and improvement ideas by coaching open dialogue.
  • Provide clear expectations on the execution of well operations in a safe and environmentally compliant manner, meeting project objectives.
  • Provide mentoring during key safety processes such as toolbox talks, SIMOPS reviews, risk assessments, and pre-job planning.
  • Promote awareness of spill prevention and environmentally responsible wellsite behaviours.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in offshore well decommissioning, well operations, and major accident hazard controls.
  • Understanding of environmental risks linked to wells (fluids, chemicals, waste streams) and associated process to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental management systems.
  • Valid offshore competency certification.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with offshore rig operations, working with rig crews and specialist well service provider.
  • Ability to coach excellence in HSE performance and behaviours is essential.
  • Experience in well-related incident investigations and capturing safety and environmental lessons learned across all operations.
  • Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) / Radiation Safety Training (advantages).
