WHAT TO EXPECT DAY TO DAY

As a Buyer, your remit will include reviews and analysis of purchase requisitions. You will obtain quotations from vendors, ensuring components are purchased and expedited for production requirements. You will be performing cost analysis and volume planning to support operational objectives and will help deliver a first class service to all stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Raise and expedite purchase orders
  • Ensure any purchase order invoice queries are resolved quickly
  • Undertake supplier negotiations to ensure appropriate and cost-effective solutions are achieved
  • Compile supplier analysis reports and data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation
  • Conduct research for new components and suppliers
  • Provide analysis on costs, new and existing
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders to review and challenge engineering specifications with the purpose of developing appropriate procurement strategies to support the business needs
  • Working methods will be appropriate for the post-COVID business environment and may involve working with remote teams.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Excellent MS Office skills, especially Excel
  • Previous experience of placing orders and managing suppliers and supply chain issues
  • An ability to work on own initiative, under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • An ability to resolve issues, prioritise responsibly and manage own workload

DESIRABLE

  • Experience of working as a buyer in the manufacturing industry, particularly electronics
  • A degree in business, operations, supply chain, electronics or related field.
