Purpose of the role
Ensure the reliable operation and maintenance of production machinery by delivering timely engineering support, minimising downtime, and contributing to efficient and safe manufacturing processes.
The day to day
- Adhere to the Camira Code of Conduct and comply with all relevant quality, environmental, health & safety, data protection, and corporate legislative requirements.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on textile machinery, including tenters, jet dyeing machines, wool milling and dyeing machines, and textile finishing and preparation equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
- Ensure all machinery operates in line with manufacturing specifications and performance standards.
- Maintain ancillary infrastructure and facilities such as steam, water, effluent, services and power.
- Assist with installation, testing, and commissioning new equipment and upgrades.
- Support improvements to machinery efficiency, reliability, and energy performance.
- Conduct routine inspections and ensure equipment is safe and compliant.
- Work in line with health and safety regulations across all departments.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Liaise with production teams and other departments to support smooth operations.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. Lean / efficiency projects).
- Support contractors and external engineers when required.
Other Considerations
- Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent).
- 17th Edition Wiring Regulations and PAT Testing (desirable).
- Experience with industrial machinery (textile machinery highly desirable).
- Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing and utilities (advantageous).
- Awareness of Health & Safety regulations.
- Ability to work at heights and in industrial environments.
