Performance Manager

Performance Manager

Full-Time On-site
C

Our client is an ambitious, entrepreneurial recruitment business with offices in London and Miami, entering a defining stage of growth. As headcount scales, the firm is appointing a Head of Performance to make sure every fee earner knows what good looks like, and gets the coaching, structure and recognition to deliver it. Reporting to the CEO, you will own how performance is measured, managed and improved across the business. You will build the frameworks behind career progression and promotion, coach consultants and managers to hit and exceed target, and set the direction for learning so the existing L&D and TA specialist can focus on delivery. This is a hands‑on role for someone who has lived the recruitment desk and loves turning data into better results.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Frameworks and Progression

  • Design and embed a clear performance management framework, including KPIs, review cycles and accountability standards for fee earners and managers
  • Build transparent career pathways and promotion criteria so every employee can see how to progress
  • Support the CEO on salary, commission and promotion decisions, ensuring they are fair, consistent and evidence-based
  • Benchmark commission and bonus schemes against the market and recommend changes

Coaching and Capability

  • Deliver 1:1 and desk‑side coaching for consultants, from new starters through to senior billers
  • Coach and develop the management population, helping them run effective 1:1s, reviews and performance conversations
  • Set the direction for L&D, partnering with the L&D and TA specialist on onboarding, academy and upskilling programmes
  • Support managers through underperformance, using structured improvement plans where required

Performance Data and Insight

  • Own performance MI across activity, pipeline and billings, spotting trends early and acting on them
  • Use CRM and performance data to identify coaching priorities and measure the impact of interventions
  • Present regular performance insight to the CEO and leadership team
  • Support the adoption of AI and technology that improves consultant productivity

Culture of High Performance

  • Design recognition, incentive and competition initiatives that drive engagement and results
  • Champion a culture of accountability, ambition and continuous improvement across London and Miami

Person Specification

  • Recruitment background, ideally a former consultant or manager who has billed and led a desk, now in a performance, L&D or coaching role
  • Proven record of improving consultant productivity, ramp‑up time or retention through coaching and frameworks
  • Experience building or refreshing career pathways, promotion criteria or KPI frameworks
  • Confident with performance data and CRM systems; able to turn numbers into actions
  • Credible coach at all levels, from graduates to senior managers
  • Energetic, commercially minded and able to challenge constructively
  • Experience in a high-growth or multi-office business is a strong advantage

Level of Qualifications

  • Significant experience in recruitment sales, performance coaching or L&D within a recruitment or sales‑led business
