The Opportunity
We are excited to be partnering exclusively with a well-established recruitment business on this newly created mandate. This business focuses on hiring across financial services, professional services, and commerce and industry, with a relationship led approach during hiring. As part of their continued investment in people, they are now looking to bring in a Learning and Development Consultant to sit within their Manchester office and take ownership of developing their consultants throughout their recruitment journey.
This is not a typical Learning and Development hire, our client wants someone who is currently a recruiter and wanting to step into an L&D role. You will bring real, hands-on billing experience (contract recruitment within professional services strongly preferred) and use that credibility to train, coach, and mentor the next generation of consultants. No formal Learning and Development background is required, what matters is that you know what good recruitment looks like, and can teach it.
This role is not suited to candidates from a high-volume recruitment background. Although our client's focus is contract, professional services desks, not high-volume or transactional hiring.
What you will be doing
- Be embedded with the Manchester teams, working closely on desk with Associates and Consultants day to day
- Deliver ongoing training and coaching sessions, with a particular focus on early-career consultants during their academy hiring, aiming to develop them through to the six to twelve month mark and beyond
- Provide mentoring and advice on desk strategy, business development, and best-practice recruitment process
- Run and lead the academy which will be a structured training programme delivered once or twice a year, working closely with new joiners for a twelve-week onboarding and development period
- Act as a trusted, credible voice on the floor, someone consultants can go to for real, practical advice, not just theory
What they are looking for
- Agency recruitment background essential, ideally 2 to 3 years or more at Senior Consultant level or above (highly desirable)
- Experience on contract desks ideally within professional services
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and communication skills. Someone who is comfortable running training sessions and giving one-to-one guidance
- No prior formal Learning and Development experience needed, this is about bringing your recruitment expertise into a training and development capacity
- Based in or able to work from the Manchester office regularly
What Is on Offer
- £40,000 salary + bonus DOE
- A genuine step away from billing pressure into a coaching-focused, people-development role
- The chance to shape how the next generation of consultants are trained across a growing business
- Benefits package discussed upon qualification of the role
Candidates with contract agency recruitment will be prioritised.
