A well-established engineering organisation based in Bristol is seeking a high-calibre FC to lead its finance function and support strategic decision-making across the business. This is a senior leadership role suited to a proactive, commercially minded finance professional with strong technical capability and a passion for driving improvement within a dynamic, project-driven environment.

The Role

  • You will take full ownership of the organisation’s financial operations, ensuring robust financial management, high-quality reporting, and effective leadership of the finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all financial operations including payroll, management accounts, statutory reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Provide high-quality financial analysis and board-level reporting to support strategic and commercial decision-making.
  • Lead, develop, and performance-manage the finance team, driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with senior leadership on commercial initiatives, bids, contracts, and project performance.
  • Drive finance process improvements, system enhancements, and operational efficiencies.
  • Maintain strong governance, risk management, and internal controls, acting as the main point of contact for auditors and external advisors.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a senior finance role, ideally within engineering, manufacturing, or a project-based environment.
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable experience leading and developing finance teams.
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise.
  • Commercially astute with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
