Financial Controller (12-month FTC) in Cheshire, Warrington

📣 Our client, a growing recruitment group, is seeking a Finance Controller to join them on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys shaping processes, systems, and reporting. Reporting directly into the Finance Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in strengthening financial operations and supporting strategic decision-making throughout the contract period.

🔑 Role Overview

Our client is looking for someone who can confidently lead day-to-day finance operations while driving continual improvement across the finance function. You’ll also take ownership of monthly group consolidation across multiple entities — a key part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily finance operations: AP, AR, payroll, and banking
• Prepare monthly management accounts, cashflow forecasts, and board packs
• Lead budgeting and planning cycles, providing clear commercial insight
• Complete monthly group consolidation and intercompany reconciliations
• Maintain strong financial controls, policies, and compliance standards
• Drive improvements in financial systems, automation, and reporting processes
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and banking partners

👀 About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or QBE with strong SME experience
• Essential experience working with multi-entity structures
• Recruitment sector experience is beneficial but not essential
• Commercial, analytical, and confident engaging with stakeholders
• Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable in a dynamic environment
• Strong systems capability (Xero/Sage or similar) with a process-improvement mindset
