CAMHS Professionals is seeking an experienced Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join a prestigious medico-legal panel based in Central London. This is an excellent opportunity for a CCT-qualified clinician to apply their specialist expertise in a high-profile medico-legal setting, producing independent expert reports for legal proceedings involving children and young people.
You will work with a well-established private client, conducting thorough psychiatric assessments and delivering detailed, court-ready expert witness reports across a range of complex cases.
CCT RequirementCCT qualification in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry is a mandatory requirement for this role. Candidates without a CCT will not be considered. You must also hold current GMC registration with a licence to practise and be listed on the Specialist Register.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct independent psychiatric assessments of children and young people for medico-legal purposes
- Prepare high-quality, evidence-based expert witness reports for use in legal proceedings
- Provide written and, where required, oral expert opinion to courts, solicitors, and other parties
- Liaise professionally with legal teams, instructing solicitors, and other medical experts
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records in line with GMC and Royal College standards
- CCT in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry – essential
- Full GMC registration with licence to practise and inclusion on the Specialist Register
- Proven experience conducting medico-legal assessments and producing expert witness reports
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, structured reports
- Ability to attend in-person in Central London
- Professional indemnity insurance in place (or willingness to obtain)
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g. RCPsych) desirable
Central London. In-person attendance is required for assessments. Some report-writing may be completed remotely.
