About the Role

We are recruiting an experienced and motivated Children's Residential Team Leader to support the day-to-day running of a children's home. This role is ideal for a senior support worker ready to take the next step or an established team leader looking for a new challenge. You will lead by example, support staff development, and help create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where children and young people can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as shift lead, ensuring the smooth and safe running of the home
  • Support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager in daily operations
  • Lead, mentor, and support residential support workers on shift
  • Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare of children and young people at all times
  • Implement care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies
  • Manage challenging behaviours in line with policies and therapeutic approaches
  • Ensure accurate record keeping, reports, and handovers
  • Contribute to staff training, inductions, and supervisions (where required)
  • Promote positive outcomes, routines, and independence for young people

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working in a children's residential setting
  • Previous experience as a Senior Support Worker or Team Leader
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and children's residential care standards
  • Ability to lead shifts and support staff effectively
  • Confident in managing challenging behaviours
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards)
  • Right to work in the UK and enhanced DBS check

Desirable

  • Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare
  • Experience working with EBD, trauma, or complex needs
  • Knowledge of therapeutic or trauma-informed care models
