Mental Health Support Worker – Residential CAMHS

Colchester, Essex (Stanway area) | Full-Time

About the Role

CAMHS Professionals are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established, therapeutically-led residential home in the Colchester area. We have 4 full-time contracts available immediately, supporting young people in a beautifully renovated, spacious 4-bedded home that also operates a solo provision for emergency crisis placements. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced mental health support workers who are genuinely committed to therapeutic approaches and making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing high-quality, trauma-informed and therapeutic support to young people in a residential setting
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with young people to support their emotional wellbeing and development
  • Reading and following individual care plans, contributing to handovers and documentation
  • Supporting young people with daily routines, community engagement, and age-appropriate independence
  • Working within a small, close-knit team to maintain a safe, nurturing environment
  • Supporting young people in crisis situations within the solo provision as required
  • Adhering to safeguarding procedures and the home's therapeutic model at all times

Shift Patterns

  • Morning shifts: 7:00am – 2:30pm
  • Late shifts: 2:30pm – 9:00pm
  • 3–4 weekday shifts per week with alternating weekends
  • A mix of morning and late shifts

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience working within CAMHS, residential childcare, or mental health support settings
  • A strong understanding of and commitment to therapeutic approaches
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and empathetic under pressure
  • Confident working with young people who may be presenting in crisis
  • Full UK driving licence and own vehicle preferred – the home is not easily accessible by public transport
  • Candidates local to the Colchester/Stanway area are strongly encouraged to apply
