To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to an individual living with Cerebral Palsy, ensuring their safety, dignity, and wellbeing at all times. The role requires specialist skills in airway management, alongside general personal care and daily living support.

Key Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, tailored support to the individual in their home and community.

*

Deliver safe and effective airway management, including suctioning, nebuliser use, oxygen administration, and emergency response procedures as required.

*

Support with personal care, mobility assistance, feeding (including PEG if applicable), and medication administration.

*

Monitor health and wellbeing, promptly reporting any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals or family members.

*

Promote independence, inclusion, and participation in social, leisure, and educational activities.

*

Maintain accurate care records in line with organisational and regulatory requirements.

*

Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, therapists, and family members to ensure consistent, holistic care.

*

Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and infection control policies at all times.

Essential Skills & Experience

*

Experience supporting individuals with Cerebral Palsy or complex physical disabilities.

*

Training and competency in airway management techniques (e.g., suction, nebulisers, oxygen therapy, tracheostomy care if relevant).

*

Knowledge of moving and handling techniques and safe use of mobility/assistive equipment.

*

Strong communication skills and ability to build positive, trusting relationships.

*

Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately in emergencies.

Desirable Skills & Experience

*

NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or working towards).

*

Experience with enteral feeding (PEG/NG tube).

*

First Aid and Basic Life Support training.

*

Previous work in community or homecare settings.
