Camfil UK has two production sites based in Haslingden, Lancashire and Gillingham, Kent. Globally, the Camfil group employs over 6000 people and has headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden.
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of our Gillingham manufacturing site. This role is critical to ensure that Production, Purchasing, Engineering, and all supporting functions operate safely, efficiently, and in line with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead daily site operations, ensuring production, quality, and service targets are consistently achieved.
- Coach, mentor, and develop the site management team, building capability, confidence, and strong decision-making skills.
- Foster a high-performance culture centred on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee production performance, ensuring schedules are met while maintaining quality standards and minimising downtime.
- Manage labour, materials, and packaging requirements through effective forecasting and resource planning.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) standards.
- Drive continuous improvement activities, including Lean practices such as 5S, waste reduction, and process optimisation.
- Provide accurate KPI reporting, forecasts, and performance updates to senior leadership.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A minimum of 3 years proven experience in an operational and/or production management role.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of coaching and developing teams.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing production, engineering, and SHEQ functions.
- Sound engineering awareness, including maintenance and technical problem-solving capability.
- Practical health & safety knowledge and experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP software.
- Solid experience managing KPIs, budgets, and overall operational performance.
- A strong understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations.
