Senior Technical Operator / Measurer — Curved & High-End Staircases Are you a skilled joiner, cabinet maker, or staircase craftsman with a passion for precision and an eye for high-end design?
Do you enjoy a mix of hands-on site work, technical specification, and customer-facing conversations at the premium end of the market?
We're working with a well-established staircase manufacturer, expanding into curved staircases and high-end hardwood work, alongside their traditional range.
Due to this growth into a higher-end market, they're looking for a Senior Technical Operator / Measurer to raise our technical standard and help lead this next chapter.
What You'll Be Doing, split role between: Site Surveys & Design
- Visiting residential and high-spec project sites across London and the Southeast
- Taking detailed measurements and designing staircases on-site, including curved and bespoke configurations
- Liaising directly with clients, builders, and site crews to ensure technical accuracy
- Producing designs and specifications to a premium standard, balancing client vision with engineering requirements
- Supporting and strengthening the measuring and technical team. Providing measuring backup and technical support. Office-Based Technical & Sales Support:
- Selling high-end staircase and joinery work directly to customers
- Advising on design solutions for curved staircases, curved handrails, and bespoke hardwood details
- Managing technical specification and project coordination from enquiry through to delivery What We're Looking For:
- Proven background in high-end, bespoke, or made-to-measure joinery, cabinet making, or staircase manufacture - production-line or standard-spec experience alone won't be enough
- Hands-on background - you've been on the tools and understand the craft at a premium finish standard
- Comfortable working to demanding tolerance and finish standards, with detail-focused, high-spec clients
- Curved staircases or curved handrail experience is a strong advantage - we're especially keen to hear from candidates with this background
- Track record on bespoke, one-off, or complex projects rather than repeat standard products
- Confident holding technical and design conversations with high-spec residential clients, architects, or interior designers
- Comfortable with technical specification and reading plans, ideally CAD
- Full UK driving licence, based within reasonable commute of Harlow What's On Offer?
- Up to £60,000 depending on experience and background
- All required measuring equipment
- Full-time, permanent - Monday to Friday
- 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays
