The Beech House is a warm, vibrant and well-established five bed children's home in West Molesey, Surrey, supporting young people aged 10–18 with emotional and behavioural needs. The home is built on the values of Love, Care and Consistency, and places strong emphasis on relationships, love led practice, emotional safety, and nurturing care.

We are now seeking an experienced and values-led Deputy Manager to join our established leadership team. This role is the second Deputy Manager position, working alongside the Homes Registered Manager, an existing Deputy Manager, and the Responsible Individual as part of a shared and collaborative management structure. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident leader who can balance warmth with accountability and who understands the importance of consistency in leadership for both young people and adults.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing day-to-day leadership, guidance, supervision and support to the adult team, ensuring practice remains love led and child-centred.
  • Working collaboratively with the Registered Manager and fellow Deputy Manager to ensure clear communication, shared responsibility, and continuity of leadership across shifts and on call periods.
  • Taking delegated responsibility for the operational management of the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • Acting as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead within the home, with delegated responsibility for safeguarding practice, decision making, and escalation in line with statutory guidance and organisational policy.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day management of safeguarding concerns, incidents and responses, ensuring thresholds, escalation, recording and follow-up actions are timely, proportionate and robust.
  • Supporting adults to understand safeguarding as a relational responsibility rooted in Love, Care and Consistency, rather than a purely procedural task.
  • Participating in a shared on call rota with the organisations leadership team, providing management oversight and decision making outside of core hours, including evenings, weekends and overnight periods as required.
  • Assisting with the oversight and monitoring of home finances to ensure resources are used effectively and responsibly.
  • Ensuring young people have access to a wide range of meaningful activities, enrichment opportunities and experiences that support confidence, development and positive memories.
  • Taking an active role in developing adults through on-shift coaching, modelling of good practice, reflective conversations and supervision.
  • Leading and overseeing care planning, safeguarding and quality assurance processes to ensure consistently high standards.
  • Maintaining a calm, predictable and emotionally safe environment where young people feel loved, supported, understood and cared for.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development, stability and growth of the home.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified: Holding a minimum of a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare. Candidates must either hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, be actively working towards it, or be willing to enrol and successfully work towards completion following a satisfactory probationary period.
  • Experienced: With a strong background in children's residential care and supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Knowledgeable: Confident in your understanding of Children's Homes Regulations, safeguarding responsibilities and Ofsted expectations.
  • Safeguarding confident: Able to make, support and escalate safeguarding decisions appropriately, and to guide adults through safeguarding processes.
  • A values-led leader: Able to translate Love, Care and Consistency into everyday leadership through love led practice, predictable routines, emotionally intelligent responses and consistent expectations.
  • A role model: Setting clear standards for practice, behaviour and professionalism while remaining supportive and approachable.
  • A team player: Comfortable working as part of a shared leadership structure, valuing collaboration and consistency over hierarchy.
  • Creative and energetic: Bringing warmth, ideas and enthusiasm to a busy and dynamic home.

What We Offer

  • A competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.
  • Bonus potential of up to £1,600 per year linked to occupancy and positive Ofsted outcomes.
  • A supportive, experienced and values-driven leadership team.
  • A well-staffed home with a strong and consistent care culture.
  • Ongoing professional development and genuine opportunities for career progression.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of young people.
