Cameron Mackintosh Ltd are seeking an enthusiastic and highly experienced individual to join the London production of Hamilton as Deputy Company Manager (Job Share). The ideal candidate will be someone who prioritises and strives for artistic excellence. The Deputy Company Manager supports the Company Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the production and is a principal point of contact for the company and production team at CML. This is an equal part job share opportunity with a current expectation of 30hrs per week. Structure, salary breakdown and contract terms will be discussed at the point of interview.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work with your job share counterpart;
  • Ensure there is a smooth and constant line of communication between yourself, the Deputy Company Manager counterpart and the Company Manager;
  • Reporting directly to the Company Manager, Associate Producer and Production Coordinator;
  • Working closely with the Company Manager on the management of the production personnel;
  • Assist in managing and documenting holiday request enquiries and reporting relevant information and questions to the Associate Producer / Production Coordinator;
  • Assist in drafting weekly schedules with the resident team and distributing accordingly;
  • Maintain a record and have a good knowledge of salaries across all the departments on the show;
  • Maintain awareness of Working Time Directive across the departments; recording and maintaining other relevant data (ie sick days, databases);
  • Collate and document passports and visa information for each new member of staff. In conjunction with CML, ensure that any right to work documents are valid and in date;
  • Have a strong understanding of the Producer’s health and safety policies and ensuring that requirements in relation to health and safety are met within the department;
  • Gain a good understanding of all Union agreements and the implementation thereof;
  • Build strong relationships across all departments, taking an active role in the wellbeing and morale of the company and building as a whole;
  • Participate in training to become a Physical and Mental Health First Aider;
  • Coordinate and manage promotional events such as publicity and photographic calls, press and media interviews and other events where necessary;
  • Oversee, draft and circulate the weekly payroll when required;
  • Be familiar with the Petty Cash system in place and ensure that it is being used accurately by all users;
  • Cover the Company Manager during shows for days off, holidays and sick leave, undertaking all responsibilities involved;
  • Book and organise all company, cast and creative ticket requests;
  • Co-ordinating the daily show covering in collaboration with the Company Manager;
  • Undertake relevant training courses from time to time as required.

Person Specification:

  • At least two years’ experience of musicians and/or plays in a professional theatre environment, ideally in commercial theatre;
  • Experience of having deputised for a senior position (preferred but not essential);
  • Discrete and professional manner, sensitive to the needs of a large company and willing to work positively towards a safe and supportive environment;
  • Positive attitude and a sense of humour;
  • Pro-active, organised, efficient and able to prioritise tasks, good time management, ability to work independently if required;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Attentive to the requirements and needs of a busy Company Office;
  • Ability to remain calm and patient during difficult situations or in a very busy environment.
