Cameron Mackintosh Limited is looking for an Associate Casting Director (12 month contract as maternity cover) to join the team from mid-October 2026 working on the current Cameron Mackintosh canon.

Purpose

The Associate Casting Director supports the Casting Directors in finding and securing actors for the CML Productions. This includes leading casting calls, contacting actors and agents, and occasionally scheduling auditions, and preparing materials for casting sessions. The Associate Casting Director at CML also liaises with the assisting team and oversees their roles and providing advice and guidance as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for running audition rooms with support from the Casting Directors
  • Communicating feedback and audition notes to agents/artists
  • Responsible for overseeing the Casting Assistant’s role and offering guidance when necessary, including booking systems and preferences to each Casting Director’s method
  • Assuring audition material is updated with the Casting Assistant
  • To book artists/services for auditions when needed i.e. in the absence of a Casting Assistant or when projects double-up
  • Responsible for creating and uploading casting footage and circulate to the Casting Teams when needed
  • To keep abreast of the Musical Theatre industry news including emerging musical, emerging talent and non-CML casting announcements
  • Liaise with UK and international creative teams, and The Producer to organise audition sessions and to discuss who is cast
  • Liaise with Associate Producers and Production Administrators in collaboration with the Head of Casting to discuss who is to be hired, re-hired, promoted or an artists’ end of contract

Person Specification

  • Applicants should have at least one year’s experience at an associate level or three years as an assistant working on West End and/or major regional theatre with experience in a casting room
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to quickly build collaborative relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Emotional resilience, confidence, discretion and tact.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making skills, along with the ability to think creatively to establish the best solutions
  • The ability to work concurrently on multiple projects
  • Strong organisational, administrative and IT skills
  • The ability to work under own initiative and to organise and manage a large and challenging workload
  • Effective team player
  • A flexible, hands-on approach with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
  • Strong networker and able to bring innovative ideas into the team
  • Experience of working in a musical theatre or a similar environment
