Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to join our team. In this critical role, you will act as a key member of our compliance team, ensuring that the organization complies with all relevant Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations. You’ll play a pivotal role in managing risks related to suspicious activities, enhanced due diligence (EDD), customer due diligence (CDD), and compliance within cryptocurrency frameworks. Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all AML and combating the financing of terrorism (CFT)-related matters within the organization.
- Oversee compliance with AML regulations and ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies for Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes.
- Monitor and identify suspicious activities and prepare and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) in a timely manner.
- Guide the organization in applying AML and CFT frameworks to cryptocurrency operations, ensuring compliance with jurisdictional crypto regulations.
- Proactively conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities or potential areas of non-compliance.
- Train and educate internal teams on AML/CFT regulations and best practices.
- Stay abreast of the latest global AML/CFT trends, sanctions lists, and regulatory changes.
- Coordinate efforts with law enforcement agencies, auditors, and relevant stakeholders.
- Lead investigations related to AML breaches and propose mitigative actions where necessary.
- Develop and produce regular compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an MLRO, AML compliance officer, or in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of AML, CFT, and KYC (Know Your Customer) regulations and best practices.
- Hands-on experience in Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes, particularly in financial services or crypto industries.
- Proficiency in identifying and reporting suspicious activities and preparing SARs.
- Strong understanding of cryptocurrency frameworks and their associated compliance risks.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Proven ability to create and implement company-wide compliance policies and manage related training initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across diverse teams.
- Relevant AML certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA Diploma in AML, or equivalent) are a plus.
Day-to-Day
- Monitoring daily transactions to detect potential money laundering or other suspicious activity in real-time.
- Ensuring appropriate risk levels are applied during the EDD/CDE processes for new customers and ongoing account reviews.
- Collaborating with legal, operations, and other internal teams to ensure a seamless compliance workflow.
- Regularly reviewing and testing the effectiveness of AML/CFT policies and controls.
- Responding swiftly and appropriately to risk alerts generated by internal systems or external regulatory changes.
- Participating in strategy sessions to improve compliance frameworks, particularly as regulations evolve.
- Conducting training sessions to raise company-wide awareness of AML compliance responsibilities.
- Preparing and presenting AML reports to leadership and regulatory authorities to meet reporting obligations.
