We're Hiring: Audit Executive

London Borough of Barnet | Colindale (Hybrid)

About the role:

As an Audit Executive in our Assurance & Public Protection Directorate, you'll be a leading point of audit advice and assurance across the Council. You'll deliver flexible, risk-based audits, drive continuous improvement, and play a key role in safeguarding public value.

What you'll be doing:

  • Planning and delivering audit assignments end-to-end (scoping to final report)
  • Conducting compliance and systems-based reviews unsupervised
  • Applying a risk-based approach aligned with Global Internal Audit Standards
  • Supporting and developing junior auditors
  • Providing technical and professional advice across the Council
  • Maintaining links with our Corporate Anti-Fraud Team (CAFT)

What we're looking for:

  • CIPFA, CCAB, AAT or IIA qualification (or equivalent)
  • Degree or equivalent
  • At least 5 years' internal audit experience in a public sector organisation
  • Strong knowledge of risk-based internal auditing
  • Solid understanding of Local Government finance (S151, statutory requirements, codes of practice)
