The role:
- As Deputy Head of Building Control, you'll lead a team of inspectors and take ownership of complex projects β including high-risk and in-scope buildings under the Building Safety Act 2022.
- You'll be the service's key link with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) and the regional hub.
You'll be responsible for:
- Managing Specialist, Building, and Trainee Inspectors
- Discharging delegated powers under the Building Act 1984, Building Safety Act 2022 & Building Regulations 2010
- Leading on high-risk and in-scope building projects
- Plan appraisals, site inspections, and enforcement action
- Representing the service on MDTs, advisory committees, and residents' panels
- Performance reporting and inspector registration
About you:
You're a validated, competent building control professional with strong technical judgement, leadership ability, and ideally experience working within the BSR framework on in-scope buildings.
