Our client is seeking to appoint a Student Welfare Officer to its existing faculty team.

Overview for the Student Welfare Officer:

  • Provide welfare and pastoral support to students
  • Support students with disabilities and long term health conditions
  • Provide initial well-being assessments
  • Identify safeguarding concerns and refer appropriately
  • Work proactively with students at risk of withdrawal
  • Manage a caseload of student welfare cases
  • Develop and deliver workshops and presentations
  • Maintain accurate student welfare records

Personal requirements for the Student Welfare Officer:

  • Degree in Health, Psychology, Counselling or similar
  • Diploma in Counselling, Student Welfare or similar
  • At least two years in a student support role
  • Experience gained in further education
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation
  • Superb communication skills
  • Well organised
  • Knowledge of mental health issues affecting students in higher education
