Our client is seeking to appoint a Student Welfare Officer to its existing faculty team.
Overview for the Student Welfare Officer:
- Provide welfare and pastoral support to students
- Support students with disabilities and long term health conditions
- Provide initial well-being assessments
- Identify safeguarding concerns and refer appropriately
- Work proactively with students at risk of withdrawal
- Manage a caseload of student welfare cases
- Develop and deliver workshops and presentations
- Maintain accurate student welfare records
Personal requirements for the Student Welfare Officer:
- Degree in Health, Psychology, Counselling or similar
- Diploma in Counselling, Student Welfare or similar
- At least two years in a student support role
- Experience gained in further education
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation
- Superb communication skills
- Well organised
- Knowledge of mental health issues affecting students in higher education
