We're working with a well-established and growing firm of Chartered Accountants based in St Albans that is looking to recruit a Semi Senior Accountant to join its expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has already gained experience within practice and is looking to take the next step towards becoming a fully qualified accountant.
Whether you're AAT qualified or currently studying towards ACA or ACCA, you'll benefit from working alongside experienced Managers and Partners while developing your technical and commercial skills.
The Opportunity
You'll become an important member of the accounts team, supporting a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, limited companies and entrepreneurial clients across a range of industries. This role offers plenty of variety and will allow you to continue developing your experience across accounts preparation, tax compliance and client service, whilst receiving ongoing support and mentoring.
Typical Duties
- Preparing statutory accounts for companies, partnerships and sole traders.
- Assisting with management accounts and financial reporting assignments.
- Supporting corporation tax and personal tax compliance work.
- Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and answer day-to-day queries.
- Maintaining accurate accounting records using a range of cloud-based software packages.
- Assisting senior colleagues with client assignments and year-end deadlines.
- Identifying areas where clients may benefit from additional support or advisory services.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an excellent client experience.
About You
You'll ideally have at least two years' experience working within a UK accountancy practice and be looking to continue developing your career within a supportive environment. Applications are welcomed from candidates who are AAT qualified or currently studying towards ACA or ACCA. You'll have strong organisational skills, enjoy working with clients and be confident using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, IRIS or similar practice systems.
