About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Accountancy Practice Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of an established accountancy practice in Shrewsbury. This is a leadership role suited to an ambitious individual with strong practice experience who can manage workflows, support staff development, maintain excellent client relationships, and contribute to the strategic growth of the firm. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency across accounts, tax, payroll, bookkeeping, and client services while helping drive continuous improvement across the practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the accountancy practice
  • Oversee workflow management, deadlines, and resource planning
  • Review accounts, VAT returns, corporation tax returns, and management reports
  • Monitor WIP, billing, debtor management, and practice profitability
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC, Companies House, and regulatory requirements
  • Support and mentor junior team members, including performance management and training
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, handling queries and resolving escalations
  • Maintain and improve internal systems, processes, and practice management software
  • Assist Directors/Partners with business development initiatives and operational improvements
