Job Description London | Hybrid β 2 days office / 3 days home Β£65,000 + 7.5β10% Bonus + Excellent Benefits Permanent | 35 hours per week Cameron James Professional Recruitment is working with a well-established financial services organisation that is looking to appoint a Senior Management Accountant to join its London-based finance team. Reporting to the Head of Accounting, this is a broad senior accounting role with a particular focus on expense management and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, financial control and Accounts Payable. The successful candidate will take ownership of expense reporting and analysis across the business, while also supporting the wider accounting function and supervising junior members of the finance team. The Role Key responsibilities will include: Producing, reviewing and analysing monthly, quarterly and annual expense reporting Monitoring actual expenditure against budget, forecast and prior year, providing commentary on key variances and trends Leading the annual expense budgeting and forecasting process Working closely with cost centre owners and other internal stakeholders to review budgets, assumptions and cost drivers Managing accruals, prepayments, cost allocations, estimates and recharges Completing balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations Supporting monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close Overseeing the Accounts Payable function, including supplier invoices, employee expenses and payment processes Reviewing AP workflows and helping to improve processes and financial controls Supervising and supporting junior finance/AP team members Maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring reporting deadlines are met Supporting the Head of Accounting with ad hoc projects and analysis The Person We are looking for an experienced Management Accountant with a strong grounding in financial accounting as well as budgeting and forecasting. You are likely to have: Previous experience as a Management Accountant, Senior Management Accountant or in a similar accounting role Strong experience of expense reporting, analysis and expense management Good knowledge of budgeting and forecasting A strong understanding of balance sheets, reconciliations, accruals and prepayments Good Accounts Payable knowledge and experience Experience preparing monthly management accounts Previous experience supervising or managing at least one junior finance team member Strong Excel skills Confidence working with finance systems ACCA or CIMA qualification, or be part-qualified and progressing towards qualification Previous experience within insurance or financial services would be highly advantageous This role would suit someone who enjoys getting into the detail of the numbers and combines strong accounting knowledge with the ability to analyse costs, understand variances and work effectively with stakeholders across a business.
