The Role As a Commercial Insurance Development Broker, your primary focus is driving growth.

You will be responsible for identifying, prospecting, and converting new commercial business leads into long-term clients.

You will work closely with a dedicated in-house Account Handlers, allowing you to focus on client acquisition and market negotiations while knowing your clients' day-to-day administration is in safe hands.

Responsibilities

  • Pipeline & Lead

Generation: Proactively identify, self-generate, and build a robust pipeline of mid-market and corporate prospective clients.

  • Risk Analysis & Program

Design: Visit prospective clients to conduct thorough risk assessments, evaluate their business exposures, and design bespoke, comprehensive insurance programs.

  • Market

Negotiation: Leverage our extensive insurer relations to negotiate competitive terms and robust coverage structures with underwriters.

  • Client Pitches & Presentations: Deliver compelling, professional pitches and proposals directly to directors, business owners, and C-suite executives.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside dedicated Account Handlers to transition new wins smoothly into our servicing portfolio.

About You You are an energetic, commercial generalist who is as comfortable negotiating with a Lloyds underwriter as you are pitching to a manufacturing business director.

Record: At least 3–5+ years of experience within commercial insurance broking, with a demonstrable history of winning new business.

  • Technical

Knowledge: Strong technical understanding of core commercial lines (including Commercial Combined, Property, Liability, Fleet, and Financial Lines).

  • Communication & Negotiation: Exceptional face-to-face and written communication skills with the ability to build immediate trust and rapport.
  • Professional

Credentials: Cert CII qualified is highly desirable, with a commitment to working towards Dip CII/ACII.

  • Mobility: A valid UK driving license is essential for visiting prospects and clients.
