Candidates should be confident, can hit the ground running, and can build relationships.

Ideally, candidates will come from a similar background, including care, charity, education, emergency services, or other similar regulated and compliance-driven industries. Working as a crucial part of a small, busy HR team and reporting into the HR Manager, the role involves supporting a client group of approximately 600 employees across multi-sites. The focus of the role is to provide a comprehensive advisory service to the business, including managing and advising on ER cases, advice, guidance and coaching to managers and stakeholders, HR best practice, support with various HR projects and assist the HR Manager with the effective roll out of the people strategy.

Key duties will include:

  • Reporting into the HR Manager, and deputising when needed.
  • Generalist HR role, supporting a client group of approximately 600 employees across multiple locations, providing an advisory service to the business.
  • Provide support to the HR Manager with the development and delivery of HR strategy and other HR initiatives.
  • Be the point of contact for all operational areas of HR from the business.
  • Managing, supporting, and providing advice on ER cases, including investigations, grievance, performance, and disciplinary matters.
  • Monitor and manage long term and short term, frequent absences and guide the managers on the processes.
  • Support with the appraisal process and ensure they are completed effectively and on time, including processing any changes to roles and internal promotions.
  • Work on various HR projects, including review and updating of HR policies, employee engagement, and new policy communications.
  • Provide in-house HR advice and support, ensuring that all company policies and processes are consistently applied across the business.
  • Oversee and support junior members of the HR team.

For this role, candidates will need to have proven HR experience at this level and be confident dealing with a wide range of generalist HR duties, including strong ER and HR Advisory experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role, and the ideal candidate will be motivated, enthusiastic and able to work on their own initiative, with a passion for making this role their own.
