Job Title: Senior Commercial Insurance Broker

Location: Croydon, Surrey (Office-Based)

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 DOE + Flexible Benefits

About the Opportunity

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Commercial Insurance Broker to join a highly respected, independent insurance brokerage based in Croydon. Established for over 40 years, our client holds direct access to the entire UK regional market, Lloyd’s, and specialized underwriting facilities.

Due to sustained portfolio growth and ambitious future expansion plans, the firm is seeking a commercially minded, market-savvy broker to take on a key senior role. In this position, you will lead market placement, manage new business and renewal portfolios, and occasionally meet with key clients face-to-face. You will act as a pivotal contributor to the firm's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Market Placement & Broking: Structure, market, and place complex commercial risks across UK regional, Lloyd’s, and specialist insurance markets for both new business and renewals.

• Portfolio & Renewal Management: Track impending renewals proactively, gather updated exposure details well in advance, and negotiate optimal terms.

• Documentation & Compliance: Oversee the creation of market presentations, slip preparation, and policy documentation, ensuring all files are closed in a accurate, compliant, and timely manner.

• Client & Stakeholder Advisory: Assess diverse client needs, deliver tailored insurance solutions, and partner with internal producers to prepare high-impact client presentations.

• Senior Client Engagement: Act as a trusted adviser to C-suite executive and senior business directors, providing expert technical counsel across various commercial classes.

Required Skills & Experience

• Commercial Market Expertise: Deep background working within a commercial insurance brokerage handling multi-line, cross-class commercial risks.

• Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of relevant commercial products, market legislation, and FCA regulatory/statutory frameworks.

• Market Relationships: Proven ability to negotiate effectively with underwriters across local, national, and specialist markets.

• Executive Presence: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the confidence to converse with senior client decision-makers.
