About the Role
Are you an experienced Commercial Broker or Senior Account Handler looking to step into a high-visibility role with genuine leadership responsibilities?
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Commercial Insurance Handler / Broker to join our established team in Coventry. In this role, you will take full ownership of a diverse cross-class portfolio while providing guidance and oversight to junior Account Handlers. Balancing technical broking expertise with client-facing engagement, you will serve as a key point of contact for complex mid-market to high-net-worth commercial risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio Management: Actively manage your own book of cross-class commercial clients with premiums reaching up to £400k per policy class.
- Product Coverage: Handle complex requirements across Property Combined, General Liability, Commercial Fleet, and Financial Lines.
- Team Leadership: Mentor, support, and oversee the daily workflows of junior Account Handlers within the team.
- Broking Operations: Lead end-to-end renewal strategies, policy remarketing, and high-value new business broking placements.
- Client Engagement: Build strong, long-term relationships through regular contact, including off-site, face-to-face client meetings when required.
- Market Negotiation: Utilise your industry relationships to negotiate favourable terms and comprehensive coverages with major insurers and Lloyds underwriters.
Requirements & Skills
- Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience within a commercial insurance broking environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mid-market commercial risks, including liability, fleet, and financial lines.
- Software: Experience using Acturis is highly desirable.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to meet clients and negotiate effectively with underwriters.
- Leadership: Proven ability or aptitude to guide and review the work of support staff.
