THE ROLE: Kitchen Porters play an important role in various outlets across our resort from the Cameron Grill in the heart of the Hotel, our family friendly Boat House with its seafood and pizza, The Clubhouse at the Carrick Golf course serving popular everyday options, our new Tavern Bar serving pub classics, or you might join the main kitchen and support our Banqueting and Events team and Pastry brigade. Wherever you are based, as Kitchen Porter your scope is to generally assist your Head Chef and brigade with the cleanliness of kitchens and equipment, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen and every service. It’s the perfect entry level position to a professional kitchen, with scope to progress into food preparation for those with ambition to become a chef.
The key things you will be responsible for:
- Kitchen opening procedures
- Ensuring sufficient tools, crockery cutlery and equipment in the correct place for service
- Receiving, and safe storage of deliveries
- Performing cleaning duties according to schedules ensuring regular sanitization of all workstations, hand contact surfaces, floors, walls fridges freezers and equipment
- Use of commercial dishwasher for the cleaning and sanitization of crockery, cutlery, and cooking utensils
- Handwashing of pots and pans, trays and large equipment
- Cleaning of heavy duty equipment like bbqs, chargrills, ovens, deep fat fryers
- Discarding all expired and spoiled food items stored in the stock rooms, refrigerators, and freezers and recording
- Logging dishwater temperatures, and cleaning records
- High powered jet washing
- Working with food grade chemicals and managing storage
- Ordering the chemicals and PPE required for the kitchen
- Assisting with stock and crockery counts
- Kitchen closing procedures

- Good numerical skills to measure, count and calculate
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Qualification or equivalent an advantage
- Previous experience or work experience within a professional kitchen is an advantage
