Our client is a leading door installation and maintenance provider in the North East of England. They currently have an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Senior Fire Door Engineer to lead a team of fire door engineers across various fire door projects. The successful candidate will be able to add to the current knowledge base and assist in growing the fire safety department of the company.
Role overview
- To install and maintain fire doors across various customer locations, including local authorities, nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and hotels, while mentoring two existing engineers and ensuring high-quality, compliant installations.

Are you the right person for the job?
- Minimum 1 year of experience installing and maintaining fire doors
- Confident working independently and mentoring other engineers
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- BM TRADA certification (desirable; training provided in-house)
- CSCS Card Joinery (Blue) desirable
- Physically capable of manual handling tasks
- Based in the North East / North Yorkshire area
- Right attitude and a pride in delivering high-quality work
- Professional, reliable, and punctual with strong communication skills
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Ability to communicate professionally and clearly with customers
What will your role look like?
- Install and maintain BM TRADA Q-Mark fire doors and frames
- Assist in conducting inspections, identify certification labels and ensure compliance with fire regulations
- Review work quality, suggest improvements, and support the development of 2 existing engineers
- Focus on quality, installation, and maintenance, not formal line management
- Potential to increase the responsibility of the role
- Work across various sites, including local authorities, nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and hotels
- Support the growth of the fire doors side of the business while gaining experience in automatic, steel, and aluminium doors
- Follow health and safety procedures, including completing risk assessments and method statements
Location & Travel
- Based at NE5 1NB, Newcastle upon Tyne
- Travel is typically within around 1 hour of the base location
- Sites include local authorities, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and hotels
