HRH Out of School Services Worker | London, N5 1XB | Part-Time | Up to 15 hours per week during term time, and 35 hours per week during school holidays | £13.85 – £14.68 per hour

They are seeking an HRH Out of School Services Worker to assist with the delivery of a quality Out of School Service for children who are aged between 4-11 years old, in our After School Clubs and our holiday playschemes. By providing educational programmes, Leisure, childcare and play opportunities in a safe, secure and welcoming environment.

Please note that this post is exempt from section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. HRH is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, so all applicants will be subject to HRH’s safe recruitment process.

Are you the right person for the job?

  • Able to demonstrate sufficient literacy to be able to prepare programmes and reports
  • Should have at least a level 2 in childcare
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience working in an after-school club
  • Able to demonstrate levels of numeracy & literacy to GCSE (A-C)
  • Ability to support children with their homework
  • Experience in play settings with primary school-aged children
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Experience working as a team member
  • Able to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, carers and children
  • Able to demonstrate enthusiasm and imagination in working in a child-based environment
  • To be fit and healthy, to carry out play activities with the children
  • Able to work within an equal opportunities framework

What will your role look like?

  • Maintain a safe, secure and stimulating playscheme environment
  • Assist in planning and contributing to a programme of activities designed to meet the needs of the children
  • To assist with the development of the Out of School Service, which is to include an exciting and extensive programme of educational and leisure activities
  • Ensuring that duties and responsibilities are carried out within an equal opportunities framework
  • Work together as a team to ensure that our services are in line with the Early Years’ Framework
  • Ensuring that services are delivered according to appropriate professional standards and to Ofsted requirements. You will also be required to ensure it is in accordance with the school\’s ethos
  • Ensuring that duties and responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the policies of the organisation, school, child protection and health & Safety
  • Ensuring that professional boundaries with children, parents and carers are maintained at all times
  • Attend daily/weekly team meetings as instructed by your line manager to discuss and assess the progress of the service
  • Participate in a training week if instructed to do so
  • To ensure that all children entrusted to your care remain on the premises at all times except during organised trips and outings
  • To ensure that the building is left clean and tidy at the end of each day
  • If you have taken the Council mini bus test, you may be asked to drive a minibus from time to time
  • To follow first aid procedures, including keeping records of all accidents and treatments given
  • Follow the rules set out in the child protection policies given to you
  • Assist with the administration and financial duties as and when required
  • Monitor the progress and development of children’s work
  • To ensure the safety of children at all times when out on trips
  • Prepare reports and attend meetings as and when required
  • Out of School Services workers are also known as Playworkers
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of educational sessions as and when required
  • Any other duties appropriate to the service, as may be required
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours by the needs of the service
  • Be prepared to work at other sites
