Our client is a well-established construction firm with over 50 years of experience delivering high-quality projects, particularly in the health care sector. They specialise in medium to large-scale construction and refurbishment projects, with a strong portfolio including NHS facilities, office refurbishments, and commercial buildings. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Estimator with a minimum of 5–6 years of relevant experience to join a motivated team and play a key role in the company’s continued growth. You will work mainly on health care-related projects and benefit from autonomy, a collaborative culture, and opportunities for ongoing professional development.
Are you the right person for the job?
- Minimum 5–6 years’ experience in an Estimator role within the construction industry
- Proven background in refurbishments, new builds, and Design & Build projects – NHS / healthcare sector experience is a priority
- Ability to independently manage tender processes and subcontractor negotiations
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with Causeway software and framework agreements is advantageous
- Excellent understanding of construction processes and site requirements
- Strong numerical analysis, negotiation, communication, and attention to detail skills
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and work to high standards
- Full UK driving licence
- Must be based within 10–15 miles of the Dronfield office
What will your role look like?
- Managing tendering processes from reviewing documentation through to bill of quantities completion
- Leading price negotiations and sourcing quotes from subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers
- Preparing accurate cost breakdowns and project pricing strategies
- Conducting site visits and attending meetings—most projects are local to Sheffield, with some in Rotherham, Chesterfield, Mansfield, Newark, and Nottingham
- Working closely with directors, project managers, procurement, and site teams
- Contributing suggestions to optimise cost control and boost profitability
- Working from the Dronfield office, with one WFH day per week (by mutual agreement)
