Our client is a not-for-profit organisation providing safeguarding, security and support services within supported housing for young people and vulnerable adults. Their services operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and play a vital role in keeping residents safe and secure. Due to the nature of the service and ongoing demand, our client is looking to expand their bank Concierge team to provide flexible, ad-hoc cover, primarily during night-time hours.

What will your role look like?

As a Concierge Officer, you will provide safeguarding and security services within supported housing environments. You will work with residents from a wide range of backgrounds, including young people and vulnerable adults with complex needs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Safeguarding residents by monitoring access to buildings, patrolling properties and monitoring CCTV
  • Identifying safeguarding risks and taking appropriate action, including liaising with managers and emergency services
  • Working within services accommodating residents with mental health needs, complex needs and challenging or anti-social behaviour (including lone working)
  • Producing detailed written shift reports
  • Carrying out health and safety checks and reporting or addressing concerns
  • Providing both static concierge cover and a roving concierge service across multiple locations
  • Participating in training and development as directed
  • Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the role
  • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all policies and procedures

Please note:

  • The role is primarily night-based (12-hour shifts, weekdays and weekends)
  • Lone working is required
  • Bank staff must be willing to cover shifts at short notice
  • Uniform must be worn and punctual attendance is essential
  • An additional allowance is payable to drivers of the roving Concierge car

Are you the right person for the job?

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A non-judgemental approach towards service users from diverse backgrounds
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable people, including mental health issues, substance misuse and anti-social behaviour
  • Confidence to challenge inappropriate behaviour and make quick, reasoned decisions
  • Good understanding of health and safety in shared residential environments
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build professional relationships
  • A good standard of written English, with the ability to produce detailed reports
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word and email
  • Ability to work alone and make decisions without direct supervision
  • A resilient, calm and solution-focused approach
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential
  • You must hold a valid SIA licence (Door Supervisor and CCTV Monitoring) or be willing to undertake training to obtain this
