Senior ACA / ACCA Accountant (Client Portfolio Lead)

London | Full Time or 4-5 Day Week | Hybrid (1-2 Days WFH)

£55,000 - £60,000 + Performance Bonus (OTE up to £65,000)

We are partnering with a highly respected and fast-growing firm of chartered accountants based in London. Established in 1979, the firm provides a full suite of accountancy, audit, tax, and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of UK and international SME clients across sectors including technology, healthcare, prime property, renewable energy, and retail.

This is not a routine compliance role. We are seeking a high‑calibre ACA or ACCA qualified accountant who is ready to step into a client‑facing, portfolio leadership position with genuine influence, autonomy, and a clear pathway toward senior management.

You will work closely with senior leadership and partners, gaining exposure to strategic advisory work while developing into a trusted business adviser to your clients. The firm places strong emphasis on professional growth, commercial thinking, and long‑term career development.

What makes this role different

  • Full ownership of a varied client portfolio from day one (with support where needed)
  • Genuine exposure to advisory work, not just compliance
  • Direct collaboration with partners on strategic and commercial projects
  • Clear, structured progression path toward senior manager level and beyond
  • A modern, tech‑enabled practice focused on efficiency and client value

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and preparation of statutory accounts and corporation tax returns
  • Management of a client portfolio, acting as the main point of contact
  • Delivery of high‑quality client service and translating technical matters into clear, commercial advice
  • Involvement / leading assignments including:
    • Audit supervision
    • Management accounts and reporting
    • Cash flow forecasting and budgeting
    • Business valuations and due diligence
  • Handling client queries, technical research, and HMRC correspondence
  • Supporting junior team members and contributing to their development
  • Working with partners on business development and firm‑wide initiatives

About You

  • ACA or ACCA qualified with approximately 3+ years post‑qualification experience in practice
  • Strong technical grounding across accounts, tax, audit, and advisory work
  • Confident managing client relationships and acting as a trusted adviser
  • Commercially aware with a proactive, problem‑solving mindset
  • Comfortable taking ownership and working with autonomy
  • Ambitious, with a desire to progress into senior leadership

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary of £55,000 - £60,000 (with performance bonus up to ~£65,000 OTE)
  • Flexible working arrangement (4 or 5 day week considered)
  • Hybrid working (1-2 days from home)
  • Supportive, transparent career development framework
  • Regular exposure to senior stakeholders and decision‑making
  • High levels of autonomy and responsibility from the outset
