The Role

Based in Runcorn and reporting to the Head of Operations, you will lead sales and business development across our trading and CDMO activities. This is a predominantly office-based leadership role. You will drive new business, grow key accounts and work closely with internal teams to deliver the right solution for each customer. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, supporting and developing a small commercial team
  • Driving revenue through new business and key account growth
  • Winning opportunities across catalogue chemicals and CDMO services
  • Growing existing relationships and expanding the customer portfolio
  • Reviewing KPIs, account plans and market activity to improve performance
  • Overseeing technical enquiries and ensuring a timely commercial response
  • Maintaining clear communication on quotations, orders and delivery timescales
  • Working with clients, suppliers, production, QC and logistics to meet customer requirements
  • Representing Manchester Organics at customer visits, exhibitions and industry events, including occasional UK and European travel

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • 3-4 years' technical sales, account management or business development experience in the chemical sector
  • Proven success winning new business and developing long-term accounts
  • Strong technical and commercial understanding of chemical products and markets
  • Experience leading a commercial team, or the clear capability and ambition to step up into a first management role
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • A highly organised, self-motivated approach and ability to work across a cross-functional team
  • Microsoft Office proficiency and ability to undertake occasional UK & European travel

Desirable

  • 1-2 years' direct experience managing a technical sales or commercial team
  • Experience selling research chemicals, catalogue products, chemical trading services or CDMO solutions
  • A degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
  • Experience using SAP
  • A full UK driving licence and additional European language skills
