HGV Technician / Mechanic
Location: Black Bourton, Oxfordshire
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm (Saturday overtime optional)
Salary: £45,000 - £48,000 per annum
About the Company
An established plant hire company with over 50 years of industry experience, providing high-quality plant and digger hire across the UK, is seeking an experienced HGV Technician / Mechanic to maintain and repair their HGV fleet.
We take pride in delivering reliable, well-maintained equipment and exceptional service to our customers, prioritising safety and operational excellence. This role is key to maintaining fleet reliability and supporting operational efficiency across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out servicing, maintenance, and repairs (mechanical and electrical)
- Diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs
- Conducting 6-weekly inspections
- Brake testing and diagnostic testing (experience essential)
- MOT preparation
- Ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant, and roadworthy
- Maintaining accurate service records and completing all relevant PMI paperwork
About You
Essential
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician / Mechanic
- Strong mechanical knowledge, including servicing, maintenance, and fault finding on HGVs
- Experience with diagnostic testing and brake testing is essential (support available, but prior experience required)
- Own tools required (standard personal tools expected; larger/specialist equipment provided)
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
- Class 2 (Category C) driving licence
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm
- Saturday work is optional and paid as overtime
