The Role
They are looking to strengthen their fantastic team with an additional Goods In Operative to support the smooth running of their warehouse and store operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and checking incoming goods, maintaining accurate stock records, supporting customers, and ensuring the warehouse and storage areas remain organised and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and unload incoming shipments of goods
- Inspect and verify the accuracy of received items
- Record deliveries and update the computer system
- Resolve discrepancies and issues with suppliers
- Organise and stock merchandise on shelves and in storage areas
- Operate a pallet truck safely to move heavy items when required
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation across the store floor and storage areas
- Support inventory management, stock rotation and stocktaking
- Assist customers with finding and selecting products
- Greet customers and provide support with their purchases
- Complete data entry and process cash/card payments relating to sales
- Provide product information and answer customer queries
Requirements
Essential
- Previous experience within a warehouse, materials handling, goods in, or shipping/receiving environment
- Ability to use a PC confidently
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to support customers effectively
- Ability to safely lift and move heavy items up to 25kg repeatedly throughout the day
- Good attention to detail and accuracy when checking deliveries and stock
- Ability to commute to March
Desirable
- Knowledge of Sage Accounting
- Experience operating a pallet truck
- Previous retail or trade counter experience
- Full UK driving licence
