Are you an experienced Accounts & Business Development Manager with a proven track record of winning high-value contracts and building long-term client relationships? Our client is a fast-growing electrical compliance company based in Essex, delivering electrical inspection, testing, maintenance, and compliance solutions to commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and public sector clients across the UK. As part of their ambitious growth strategy, they are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to develop high-value client relationships, win major contracts, and become a trusted advisor to some of their largest customers. This is a strategic sales role focused on growing existing accounts while identifying and securing new opportunities within larger organisations.
The Role
- Reporting directly to the Head of Sales, you will be responsible for managing and expanding a portfolio of key accounts while driving new business growth across your territory.
- You'll identify opportunities for additional services, build relationships with senior decision-makers, prepare commercial proposals, and negotiate long-term contracts.
- Success in this role comes from creating genuine partnerships with clients and delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow strategic customer accounts to maximise long-term revenue.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities within medium and large commercial organisations.
- Build relationships with Facilities Managers, Estates Teams, Procurement Managers, Directors and key stakeholders.
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements.
- Develop account growth plans to increase spend and service penetration.
- Manage the sales pipeline and forecast future opportunities using CRM.
- Conduct regular client review meetings and identify new compliance requirements.
- Work closely with Operations to ensure excellent service delivery.
- Represent the company at networking events, exhibitions, and client meetings.
- Achieve ambitious sales, margin, and growth targets.
Requirements
Essential
- Proven success in Key Account Management, Business Development or Strategic Sales.
- Experience managing and growing high-value customer accounts.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Experience producing quotations, proposals, and tenders.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with senior decision-makers.
- Ability to identify opportunities and convert them into long‑term business.
- Self‑motivated with a consultative approach to selling.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience within Electrical Compliance, Facilities Management, Building Services, M&E, Fire & Security or Construction.
- Knowledge of compliance‑based services and planned maintenance contracts.
- Experience working with public sector frameworks or national commercial clients.
