EXPERIENCED RETAIL SALES ASSISTANT . & TEA BAR SPECIALIST.
Camden Tea Bar – Camden Market, London. Full-time position available. . Camden Tea Bar is an established independent tea shop and tea bar in Camden Market. We are looking for an experienced, confident and commercially minded Retail Sales Assistant to join our team.. . This is primarily a customer service and sales role. You must enjoy approaching customers, starting conversations, understanding what they are looking for and confidently recommending products.. Alongside retail sales, you will be trained to prepare our loose-leaf teas, matcha, coffees and other drinks.
THE ROLE.
Retail sales and customer experience:
- Warmly greeting and engaging every customer.
- Asking the right questions to understand customers’ tastes and needs.
- Confidently recommending loose-leaf teas, gifts and accessories.
- Explaining products clearly and enthusiastically.
- Upselling and suggesting relevant additional products.
- Helping to increase sales and average customer spend.
- Creating an engaging and memorable customer experience.
- Handling transactions accurately.
Drink preparation:
- Preparing loose-leaf teas, matcha, coffees and other drinks.
- Following recipes and presentation standards consistently.
- Working quickly and calmly during busy periods.
- Keeping the tea bar clean, organised and well stocked.
Shop responsibilities:
- Restocking products and maintaining attractive displays.
- Keeping the shop exceptionally clean and well presented.
- Helping with opening and closing duties.
- Taking responsibility for the smooth running of the shop.
- Learning our extensive tea and product range.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.
- At least two years’ experience in retail, hospitality or another customer-facing sales role.
- Strong sales skills and the confidence to recommend and upsell products.
- Excellent spoken English and clear communication skills.
- A friendly, outgoing and professional manner.
- A reliable and punctual approach to work.
- The ability to stay calm, positive and efficient under pressure.
- Availability to work weekends and during busy holiday periods.
- The right to work in the UK.
Barista or specialist food and drink experience would be helpful, but strong sales ability and customer engagement are more important.
Full tea and product training will be provided.

PROGRESSION.
We are looking for someone who wants to stay, develop their knowledge and take on more responsibility over time. . This role would suit an experienced retail salesperson or hospitality professional who wants to work in a more specialist, engaging and product-focused environment.. .

Schedule: 5 days a week including one weekend day
Salary: £12.7 – £13.5 hourly
