Job Description
- Assess and evaluate dental hygiene students’ clinical skills during the following dental hygiene “process of care” procedures performed with their patients in the clinic:
- Review of Medical/Dental History
- Extra/intraoral Exam (Oral Cancer Screening, Gingival Exam, Occlusal Exam, Hard-Tissue Charting, Periodontal Charting, etc.)
- Plaque Control Procedures
- Treatment Planning
- Scaling and Root Planing
- Selective Polishing
- Fluoride Treatments
- Radiographic Interpretation
- Observe and provide feedback to students during clinical proficiencies on all dental hygiene skills.
- Exhibit knowledge of current technology in the practice of dental hygiene.
- Consult with students, fellow instructors and patients as needed in the instructional process.
- Demonstrate professionalism and follow all policies and procedures for the Dental Hygiene Program (Manual will be provided during training period).
- Attend and participate in calibration exercises/meetings for clinic instructors.
- Meet with Dental Programs Director and Clinic Supervisor to review program/department procedures.
- Observe dental hygiene clinical instructors during patient care to attain understanding of clinic and educational procedures.
- Follow accreditation guidelines and procedures as designated by the CODA and Dental Programs Director.
