We are seeking a Test Engineering Technician for a full‑time, on‑site position at our Cambridge test and research facility. In this Products‑based role, you will assist with the testing and maintenance of high‑value, low‑volume equipment, troubleshooting and resolving issues in testing processes, and support operations with test equipment configurations and maintenance. You will play a vital role in maintaining the quality and reliability of our cutting‑edge technology, contributing to innovative projects within the research and automotive sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Final assembly, troubleshooting, test and calibration of new scientific instruments
- Maintenance, repair and calibration of service return instruments
- Capture identified faults and solutions to support feedback to suppliers
Required Skills
- An aptitude for hands‑on work in a lab environment, using workshop and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills, with pin‑sharp attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

Candidate Experience
- Prior experience in a lab‑based environment, specifically fault‑finding, repair and following test procedures.
- Familiarity in a range of areas, including mechanical, compressed gases, electronics, soldering (including SMD), AC and DC wiring, and experience with MS Windows® tools—such as Excel for data review—will be appreciated.
- However, we primarily seek a candidate who (with team support) is interested and engaged to quickly learn new techniques and skills.
Salary + Benefits
The role is full‑time at 35 hours per week, and could support compressed working for a 4‑day working week. Salary from £30k+ (Profit Share) 25 days holiday Cycle to work scheme Income protection insurance.
