We have recently undergone a multi-million pound extension to meet the needs of the region’s growing population. This and the recent visit from the CQC has enabled enhanced funding to enhance our current midwifery workforce. The ‘new’ and improved Rosie includes an expanded 10 bedded state of the art pool rooms within the birth centre, a pool room facility in the delivery unit and one of the biggest neonatal units in the UK, fully integrated with the existing Rosie hospital to help ensure the Trust can deliver care in modern facilities that meet the needs of women and their families, providing greater patient choice and further improving patient experience.

Main duties of the job:

  • To provide clinical midwifery care based on current research-based evidence, ensuring an optimum level of safe and effective care throughout the Maternity Services.

Working in this Specialty:

The Rosie Maternity Hospital provides maternity, gynaecology and neonatal services to the local population of Cambridgeshire, extending to parts of North Essex, East and North Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Bedfordshire. Specialist services in high-risk obstetrics, fetal and maternal medicine and neonatal intensive care are provided for the whole of the eastern region.

This vacancy is for Registered Nurses with full NMC registration. If you are an internationally trained nurse that has not passed their OSCE (objective structured clinical examination), you will not be considered for this role and will be automatically rejected, so please do not apply. Person specification:

  • Qualifications: Registered Midwife, Diploma/Degree or equivalent in Midwifery
  • Experience: Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of midwifery in all areas of the service with recent working within the community setting, Community experience, Involvement with clinical audit and research, Use of computerised information system
  • Knowledge: Aware of current research and its impact on evidence-based care, Knowledge of NMC Code, Understanding of the Role of the PMA, Knowledge of current reports/guidelines relating to Maternity Care and their implication, Involvement in participating in the production of evidence-based policies and guidelines
  • Skills: Ability to carry out the full range of midwifery skills in all clinical areas, Developed interpersonal skills, Working towards Perineal suturing skills, Epidural Management, IV drug additives, Siting IV Infusions, Good organisational skills, Able to support others and mentor in the learning environment
