Acting as the face of Finance we are recruiting a Finance Business Partner to join our team to ensure budgets are managed appropriately, provide advice and financial analysis and challenge to inform decision making and business planning. Responsible for ensuring financial information and accounting records are complete and accurate.
The role
Reporting directly to the Principal Financial Accountant, the role is varied with a combination of both Management and Financial Accounting activities.
It will include working with the business with annual budget preparation, monthly monitoring, forecasting and reporting as well as involvement in our statutory accounts preparation and closedown processes including liaison with both internal and external audit. The team
The Cambridgeshire Finance Team is a small team who look after all aspects of Finance for the constabulary both Financial and Management Accounts, Treasury, and Exchequer Services.
The Person And Job Entry Requirements
To be successful in this role you will have:
- AAT (Qualified or part Qualified) or a CCAB Accountant although candidates with relevant skills and experience of working in a relevant accounting environment will be considered.
- Demonstrably good, current technical accounting skills and concepts and a general knowledge of IFRS accounting requirements and the CIPFA Code.
- Demonstrable experience of Management Accounts (budget preparation and monitoring) and/or Financial Accounts (closedown processes, participation in statutory accounts preparation, liaising with both internal and external audit).
- Strong relationship management, communication and influencing skills and personal credibility with stakeholders.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to present information clearly to senior management to enable decision making.
- Ability to assess a business area’s financial situation and its implications providing additional training/support if necessary.
- Good analytical, data management and modelling skills and the capability to get the business to focus on critical issues.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Support proposals under development, helping to assess options and identifying risks.
- Developing quality outcomes within tight deadlines prioritising effectively as required.
- Demonstrable experience of financial planning, budget preparation, reporting and monitoring in complex organisations with significant budgets (£100m+).
- Demonstrable knowledge of Local Government finance and the Local Government political processes.
- Demonstrably good general Microsoft 365 skills and advanced level Excel skills with experience of developing complex spreadsheets.
- ‘A’ level standard education or professional equivalent/higher level.
- Experience (at least 2 years) in the Police arena – desirable.
- Experience of administering VAT in a Section 33 body – desirable.
- Knowledge of Police finance, and issues affecting the wider Criminal Justice System – desirable.
The Hours
We are currently looking for a part time (30 hours per week).
The location
In Finance we recognise the value of an inclusive and diverse workforce. Our department supports the principles of agile working and so there is flexibility within this role for some homeworking but regular attendance in the office will be required.
The teams base is in Godmanchester, Huntingdonshire.
Flexible working arrangements will also be considered.
