Overview
We have an opportunity for a full-time Senior Social Worker in our Young Adult\’s Team. The team supports Adults aged 18-25 with a diagnosed learning disability who have an EHC Plan. The team operates countywide from Scott House in Huntingdon, with remote working options and an office in Huntingdon. Occasional out-of-county travel may be required. The Senior Social Worker will work alongside Children\’s services with young people under 18 to prepare them and their families for adulthood, and will collaborate with Adult Learning Disability services, health colleagues, and Education services. Legal and Court work is a core part of the senior role, particularly concerning MCA, CoP, and DoL work. Senior Social Workers hold a small caseload and line manage 2-3 team members, and may deputise for the Team Manager when needed. The role supports personalisation, independence, choice, and opportunities for young people to develop their independence for adulthood.
Responsibilities

- Work alongside Children’s services with young people under 18 to prepare them and their families for adulthood.
- Support young adults through change, encourage progression, and acknowledge individual, family, and community strengths.
- Collaborate with Adult LD services, health colleagues, and Education services.
- Engage in Legal and Court work as part of MCA, CoP, and DoL responsibilities.
- Promote the principles of personalisation, encouraging independence, choice, and opportunities for young people to develop independence for adulthood.
- Engage in joint working with various departments and provider services; manage carefully planned caseloads that reflect experience and skill set.
- Occasional out-of-county travel may be required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Be a qualified Social Worker with a Social Work England registration.
- Hold a driving licence and have the ability to work from a variety of locations and travel countywide independently.
- Knowledge and experience of working with people with a learning disability is desirable but not essential.
- Advanced working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act is important; direct experience in safeguarding and complex casework is valuable.
- Line management and Court experience is advantageous; there is scope for professional development as part of a team of four Senior Social Workers.
