Overview

We are looking to recruit 2 Advanced Analysts to join the newly formed Policy, Performance & Intelligence Team at Cambridgeshire County Council. A team of 50 individuals who provide data, analysis insight and policy expertise to support the operational management and strategic planning of services. Our Advanced Analysts play an important role in ensuring the council can harness the potential of data, using evidence and best practice to support and inform the development of policy, strategy, plans and budgets, and in turn deliver the Corporate Strategy for Cambridgeshire County Council.

The first role is offered on a permanent basis and will be supporting the Adults, Health and Commissioning Directorate, and will work to support the operational management and strategic planning of services. The second role is being offered as fixed term for 2 years and will specifically support the delivery of work for Community Safety partnerships and internal community safety colleagues, by analysing a wide range of data from across the partnership landscape.

We expect the assessment and interview to take place on the 7th October and will be in contact with successfully shortlisted candidates on the 6th October. Shortlisted candidates will be expected to complete a data analysis exercise on the day of the interview. What will you be doing?

As a Senior Analyst, you will be responsible for providing data, insight and analysis to the service. Your role will include:

  • Overseeing the extraction and combining of operational datasets
  • Overseeing projects to provide robust, timely and accurate analysis
  • Working closely with the service to understand their needs and respond to requests
  • Using your in-depth knowledge of the services you support, their policies and practice as well as the underlying Management Information systems that they use
  • Overseeing the provision of insight reports and benchmarking information
  • Supporting the data provision for CQC assurance visits/ Supporting the Community Safety Partnership by producing timely analysis and annual strategic assessments
  • Working with key stakeholders to plan and prioritise work
  • Presenting analysis, insights and findings to a variety of stakeholders
  • Visualising data to help non-data users to understand key insights

Are you ambitious, innovative, good with data and passionate with an enthusiasm for supporting evidence led decision making. If so, we may have the role you’ve been searching for!

We are looking for an individual with strong technical skills, who has a sound understanding of a range of data sources and can practically apply those skills to embed new data solutions. You will have experience of overseeing projects and supporting others, as well as excellent organisational skills.

Good communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for this role, as the post holder will be required to present complex and sometimes technical information in appropriate forms for a wide range of internal and external audiences.

You will have relevant previous experience in a similar field. High level of competence with Power BI, data analysis, and specialist data analytical software are also desirable. The successful applicant will be well supported to further develop their subject knowledge and technical skillset.
