Lead the transformation of a complex policing estate and shape future infrastructure strategy within Cambridgeshire Constabulary, playing a pivotal role in delivering a modern, sustainable estate aligned to the future of policing.
The Strategic Director of Estates is a high‑impact senior leadership position reporting directly to the CFO and Director of Resources. The role involves shaping strategic direction, driving estate transformation and contributing directly to operational policing outcomes across the county.
Strategic LeadershipLead the Estates and Facilities Management team, building strong, effective partnerships across the Constabulary, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, other police forces, partner organisations and the wider emergency services community. Represent the function at key Board meetings and governance forums, providing trusted advice and forward‑looking recommendations on estates strategy.
Operational Delivery and Commercial OversightSet direction while leading hands‑on delivery across procurement and commercial negotiations in partnership with the Commercial Services function. Drive high‑quality outcomes in new‑build developments, major capital works, sustainability initiatives, planned maintenance and day‑to‑day performance of contractors, ensuring compliance, cost‑effectiveness and excellent value for money.
Estate Transformation and Future PlanningDevelop a refreshed Estates and Facilities Management Strategy aimed at the future of policing, securing stakeholder buy‑in and translating the vision into a practical, deliverable programme that modernises the estate sustainably.
Compliance and RiskOwn statutory health and safety obligations across the estate, maintaining up‑to‑date testing, inspections and remedial actions. Manage Estates‑related risk assessments, safeguarding people, buildings and the services they support.
Salary and BenefitsStarting pay of £87,741 rising to £108,435 p.a. 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexible working requests considered with the understanding that attendance is required frequently at sites. Annual leave allowance of 28 days rising to 30 days on service.
