Bedfordshire Police, in partnership with neighbouring forces, is looking for a Police Staff Prepare Officer to support the National CONTEST Strategy and the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit (ERSOU). The successful candidate will work across the region to prepare for terrorist attacks, conduct exercises, develop operational plans and maintain a debriefing function to support learning and risk management.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and run exercises testing Counter Terrorism plans across the Eastern Region and nationally.
- Collaborate with other CONTEST partners, emergency services, local government and the military to develop and test joint response procedures.
- Maintain and utilise the debriefing function to capture lessons from exercises, incidents and investigations.
- Support the delivery of the two‑year National Prepare Training Pathway alongside routine duties.
- Attend, facilitate and lead meetings, training sessions and exercises across the region and, on occasion, nationally.
- Support the team in partnership working and strategic development of Counter Terrorism capabilities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Policing experience as a Police Officer or Police Staff with evidence of strong communication, partnership working and management of a busy workload.
- Will need to undertake Management Vetting (5‑year residency) and Security Clearance (5‑year residency).
- Eligibility as a UK National or dual national who meets the Civil Service nationality rules.
- Commitment to completion of the National Prepare Training Pathway and other relevant training.
