Cambridgeshire Constabulary – Police Staff, Permanent, Full Time, Human Resources. Location: Peterborough. Salary: £37,020. Band SO1.

An exciting opportunity to be trained as a Police Staff Driving Instructor delivering a range of police driver training to officers and staff across the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire collaborated Police Forces. Initially you will train Emergency Response Car Courses before progressing onto Advanced Car and other specialist courses. The BCH driving school trains officers and police staff on driving courses in accordance with national driving standards issued by the College of Policing. Instructors also conduct regular driving assessments to ensure police drivers remain competent. The driving school sits within BCH HR Operational Learning as a collaborated unit and has three bases across BCH.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver practical driver training and relevant theoretical classroom presentations.
  • Work primarily at Hampton Police Station, Peterborough, with duties across all three forces to deliver driver training.
  • Attend to occasional late turns to enable delegates to experience driving in varying light conditions.
  • Be part of a team of police officers and police staff delivering driver training across the three forces.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Applicants MUST hold an Advanced Police Driving qualification or be a currently authorised ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) registered with the DVSA.
  • Desirable but not essential: previous emergency response driving experience.
  • Evidence of personal qualities and the entry requirements stipulated in the role profile.
  • Ability to achieve the Police sector standard for trainers and assessors, a qualification required prior to undertaking the BCH Police Driving Instructors Course.
  • Successful completion of the BCH Driving Instructors Course within 9 months of starting.
  • Assessment process: shortlisted applicants will undergo an assessment similar to Part 2 and Part 3 of the DVSA’s ADI process, followed by an interview if successful.
Contract and Working Arrangements
  • Instructors work Monday to Friday with occasional late shifts.
  • Location is primarily at Hampton Police Station, Peterborough, with duties across three forces.
